Fringing Reef - Frankland Islands, Far North Queensland

Fringing Reef is a fine art aerial photograph capturing the remarkable coastline of Normanby Island in the Frankland Islands, Far North Queensland. Photographed from directly above, the image reveals the seamless transition from dense tropical rainforest to pristine white sand before giving way to the vibrant blue fringing reef that lies just metres from the shoreline. The striking layers of colour and texture showcase the close connection between rainforest and reef, creating one of the most spectacular coastal landscapes on the Great Barrier Reef.

I have worked as an underwater photographer on the Frankland Islands - this location holds a special significance to me. The thriving fringing reefs are among the most beautiful and diverse I have explored, making this photograph both a celebration of an extraordinary natural environment and a personal reflection on a place that has shaped my journey as a photographer. As a fine art aerial print, Fringing Reef highlights the unique beauty of Tropical North Queensland and the breathtaking landscapes of the Great Barrier Reef from a perspective few have the opportunity to experience.
