Cairns

Cairns has been my home for many years, and I still find new reasons to take my camera with me every time I head outdoors. It is the only place in the world where two UNESCO World Heritage-listed areas—the Great Barrier Reef and the Wet Tropics Rainforest—meet. It is a remarkable place to live, explore, and photograph.

I bought my first DSLR in 2016 with a simple goal: to bring a creative outlet along on the adventures I was already having. Photography quickly became much more than a hobby. It changed the way I experienced the places around me, encouraging me to slow down, observe the light, and appreciate the fleeting moments that often go unnoticed.

This collection focuses on Cairns above the water. From sweeping landscapes and aerial perspectives of reefs and islands to quiet, unplanned moments in nature, these images reflect the incredible diversity of Far North Queensland and the privilege of calling it home.

My hope is that these photographs convey more than just beautiful scenery. They are an invitation to look a little closer, to appreciate the uniqueness of this corner of Australia, and to recognise the value of preserving the landscapes that make Cairns unlike anywhere else in the world.
